Free Info Riches from the Public Domain

The Public Domain is almost unknown to most people. Yet, there’s a wealth of not just information, but also products and content that can be used freely by anyone lucky or smart enough to acquire it.

In case you don’t know about the public domain yet, I’ll give you a brief overview about what the public domain is and how you can get your own free info riches from the public domain. That’s right, I said free.

The public domain is where you can find material that is freely available to the public. This includes content where the copyright or patent has expired or was never renewed, any works published prior to 1923, any works that are donated to the public domain, works produced by the U.S. government or other governments, almost all content available in the .edu and .gov websites, or works that have no specific rights or laws that restrict their use by the public.

Always make sure you check the copyright to any products you are thinking of using for yourself. You can check the copyrights here- http://www.copyright.gov/.

Here is also a great report that highlights the main points of public domain rights- http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/resources/docs/copyrightterm.pdf.

Haven’t you ever wondered where people find some of the items you see for sale online on sites like Ebay or even Amazon? What if I told you that there are thousands or even tens of thousands of products available for free that you could take and publish as your own personal products and keep 100% of the money for it?

I’m not talking about resale rights or private label rights products either. I’m talking about Public Domain material and this can include photos, prints, magazines, books, ebooks, software, audios, or even videos. You can get creative on the content you want to use as almost every form is available.

You can use this material for reports, ezine articles, content for websites or blogs, auto responder follow up emails, home study courses, etc. Many people have built entire empires online and offline using public domain material.

Here are a couple of websites to start where you can find public domain works to use. Again, check the copyright before using in case they were posted by mistake. Here you go.  www.gutenberg.org, www.archive.org or http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books/.

Check these out for resources to get started using public domain works for your personal profit. There are others, of course. But these are a good start. I’ll be recommending some more resources in future articles. Keep your eye peeled for more info. Add this income stream to your online arsenal. Another free way to make money that can be leveraged into a large income with some creativity.

Until next time, take care and Be More.
