Why You Need Your Own Home Business Now
Now, more than ever, there’s an uncertainty in the air. Where’s the next job coming from? Will I be the next in line to be “cut back”? Can I survive and pay my bills if they reduce my hours? Will my company be in business tomorrow? Seemingly unrelated events are now influencing every business in a major way. For the most part, they’re the brick and mortar businesses that are being affected the most. THAT is the reason you have to start your own home business NOW, not later.
Now, I’m not saying you have to go out and spend a lot of money you may not have. You don’t even have to make it a full time business, unless you want to, of course. But the security of having your own income, without having to rely on a boss or other people, that is REAL security.
I’ve always been self employed. Yes, we do work for other people. But we do it at our discretion, on our time and we can always say no thanks. Sure, there are those times when work is tight and of course, there’s always the security issue. But remember, not only does it provide you with the means to expand your field, but it also gives you the confidence to strike when the opportunity presents itself to you.
So, aside from those reasons, how about the extra income part? Got your attention now, don’t I. It really doesn’t take that much to set up a few extra income streams. Sell some stuff on Ebay or Amazon, maybe you like cosmetics and have a friend in the business. Do you know a good plumber? Ask him to split the discount he gets with you if you sell some plumbing supplies for him. Everyone knows someone, or maybe several someones, who are tradespeople or professionals. You could potentially use their contacts to generate a healthy dose of Adios Boss. Who knows?
Just think about some of your friends or others that you have contact with. How about your vet? Maybe they’d like to supplement THEIR income also. So you offer to sell some products that they get discounts on and split the profit with them. It’s a win-win situation. You can even tell them, you’ll give them 25% and keep 75%. They basically do nothing and get money. Here’s one for you. How about you simply ask for their contact? Many are willing to share their info with you for free. Just in the name of helping you out. If they do, next time you see them, give them a bonus. Thats right. They will not only look for other ways to make you money, but will have a great feeling towards you. Again, it’s win-win. THAT is what builds relationships that will keep on giving.Do you have some knowledge you’re using to make good money yourself? Share that with someone. Always pay it forward, it will come back so many times more.
I hope this has helped someone out there. If so, why not share it with a friend or two. Sign up to subscribe to my blog, receive updates when I make them, and get some freebies just for subscribing. Until next time, take care and…

Good post Patrick. The present contraction of the economy is not just affecting the big corporations and their employees, ‘money is made round to go round’ as they say. If you are self-employed, as I am also, then BAU (business as usual) depends on Bricks and Mortar, and all the overhead before you get out of bed. So going online is happening more and more – ALL (such a small word) I have to do is figure out how to get a slice of the action
)
Keep up the good idea sharing.
Ciao John
Hi Patrick,
post raises a good point, in todays economic climate , you really don`t have much choice but to work from home as jobs are growing thinner by the minute !

Really good post, Patrick, finding work right now is hard for those who are self employed. The sooner alternative options are put into place the better.
Enjoy the journey.

John,
Exactly. But with only a very small percentage of the population online right now, the future looks bright for those that are or will be established. Still late to the game, but luckily this is just the beginning. Take care.
Mandy,
True, we’re competing with a lot of out of work people right now. That’s why I’ve always stressed the importance of quality and commitment. Only a very small percentage of people will rise above the pack to become quality conscious. So, that puts those people in a position of demand. No matter the economy, there will always be people with money, and those people will always seek out a quality product.
Same goes for your online business. The ones that truly last have great products. Others will fall by the wayside. Always try to over deliver and you will have a repeat customer for life. Enjoy the journey also.

How about doing ironing at $2.50 a shirt. You may have some neighbors that would love the extra help. Might be just enough income to help with no cash outlay.
(If that’s what you want to do, it would certainly bring in extra income. Personally, I concentrate on things that will give me a much higher return for my invested time. P)
Excellent information and I favor your mind-set towards boosting standards. Thanks for putting this material up. This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. Keep blogging. Looking forward to reading your next post.
Nice post Patrick! You’re right on this. During this tough economic times, the recession has brought a lot of jobless, shocked, stressed people. And there’s no better way to achieve security than to earn money and not depend on your salary coz you might be the next one out. Big business start small. And from that you begin to earn little to a lot. Thanks for the tips Patrick! Really opens the minds of people.
Great post. I agree with you 100%.
