Don’t Hate- Affiliate

Sometimes, when I’m browsing the groups, forums and blogs, I see some people complaining about the amount of emails they get from some marketers. It seems like many of the bigger marketers push dozens of emails at you, every one packed with a different offer that is better than the last one. Whereas I don’t necessarily agree with this method, you have to hand it to them, they make a ton of sales. It’s all a numbers game in the internet marketing world.

That brings me to a point. Aligning yourself with some quality affiliates is one of the best ways, and the easiest, to generate some income online. Especially if you’re just starting out. As well as making direct income, through selling someone’s product for them and keeping a commission, you can also make indirect income. Huh? What do you mean, Pat? Well, come closer, I’ve got a secret for you. Can you hear me? Good.

What I mean is, go to any website. Let’s say Sears for instance. It could be any site at all, that’s just one I picked out of the blue. Maybe go to one where you would normally buy something from. Now, go straight to the bottom of the page, it’s almost always there. Look in the area that would be the footer, where all the links are. What do you see? Is it? an…Affiliate link? Yes, it is. What a surprise.

Now, here’s where the indirect income comes in. Click the link and check out their affiliate program. If you join and purchase through your link, guess what? You just saved some jing. In this case, it’s only a few percent. But I’ve seen sites that will give you around 15% of any sales you refer to them. So, think about a review site, where someone lists 3-5 items, with the comparison prices of each. Most likely, they’ve joined the 2 or 3 affiliate sites with the lowest posted prices, knowing people will be more inclined to click on those. So, someone actively looking to purchase will have a higher chance of buying there if the price is right. That’s just another way to add yet another income stream to your online arsenal.

There are thousands of stores online that have affiliate programs. I’d venture to say, most of them. A great site to join is Commission Junction. They’re one of the largest affiliate sites and most stores are listed in their directory. Which means, there’s a convenient place to find all of the affiliates you’ll ever need. They offer tools and your affiliate links when you’re joining that particular program.

I am, of course, talking about physical products. Digital products work even better, as well as having a higher commission. But if you want some truly passive income, just set up a review site. It could even be a static blog with links. Post your active links there and set and forget. You may be surprised one day to find there’s been some sales without any extra effort on your part.

Sounds like the perfect business to me. So remember, Don’t Hate… Affiliate. Until next time, have a great one. If you like the articles, why not sign up in my subscription box.
