Hi everyone- Let’s have some Quality time!

I was thinking today about a few things and wanted to share them with you all. Part of what I do at this time is fine carpentry and while working today, it got me to thinking. I sincerely hope you’ll find my blog useful and this is advice that anyone can use in their daily lives.

It’s all about Quality. I’ve always stressed the quality aspect of my craftsmanship and my life and the fact that I take great pride in my work. Luckily, I learned at an early age to focus on giving the best quality that is possible, adding value to whatever it is that you do. Very few people these days seem to take their skills to the next level. If you just apply that extra 10% to your finished product, people will hunt you down to acquire your services (or products). Also, since very few ever strive for perfection, you’ll become an expert, a professional. If you’re religious, tithing would follow the same concept. The extra 10% you give will be payed back many fold in the future. It only boils down to a little more on your part. 10% more skill= the top 5%. Can you rise to the task?

When learning anything, it’s very important to learn the proper way of doing something first. That way, you won’t develop bad habits that will be hard to break later.  Cutting corners is rarely the shortcut and usually costs you time and/ or money in  the long run. Don’t be lazy on the small stuff. Remember, it’s the little things that count. Most customers don’t mind paying for you to do it right. The saying goes, if you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over? That’s so true.

Always strive to learn from someone who is skilled at the craft you’re trying to acquire. It doesn’t matter what it is. If you clean floors at the local hotel, be the best damn floor cleaner anyone has ever seen. The pride you feel for a job well done not only feels good, but people will notice. There’s “something” about you. They can’t quite put their finger on it. You’ve all met people like that, I’m sure.  What is it that sets them apart? Pride isn’t the same as being egotistical either. It’s the inner satisfaction of knowing you gave of yourself in the highest quality way possible.

Why take pride in your work? Do it for you first and foremost. The other reasons will fall into place soon enough. Higher self esteem, respect, satisfaction and ultimately the financial rewards that accompany those. I hope this has found someone who will benefit from it. Please feel free to comment and take care. Stay tuned until next time.
